The College of Surgeons of Srilanka recently organized the ‘Srilanka Surgical Congress’ at the Noel and Nora Bartholomeusz Foundation on 3rd to 26th November 2022 in Colombo. It was a joint meeting with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the SAARC Surgical Care Society.

There were expert faculties from both Sri Lanka and abroad namely, United Kingdom, Australia, Nepal, India etc joining the meeting. The SLSC 22 featured an array of pre-congress workshops, plenary lectures, symposia, meet-the-expert sessions, masterclasses, orations, and research paper presentations. The theme this year was ‘Compassionate Surgery’ – compassion all around, towards patients, peers, team members at all levels and beyond.

There were Master class on Paediatric Urology, Urethral Surgery in the male and female, Cleft Lip and Palate, Hepatobiliary MDT etc.

During the Conference, Prof Sunil Kumar Sharma Dhakal, President of the Society of Surgeons of Nepal was conferred the Honorary fellowship of the College of surgeons of Srilanka by the President, Council of the College of Surgeons of Srilanka 2022, Dr Satish K Goonesinghe . He delivered SAARC Oration on ‘Patients Safety, the Nepalese perspective’.
