Key Highlights of the Conference

Guest Lectures

Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma
Dr. Sharma gave a guest lecture on Laparoscopic Gastrectomy, sharing the latest advances in this minimally invasive procedure. His talk focused on improving outcomes for patients undergoing gastric surgery, demonstrating how laparoscopic techniques have become safer and more effective over time.

Dr. Pranil Rai
Dr. Rai’s lecture on Laparoscopic Management of Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS) was one of the highlights of the event. He discussed how laparoscopic surgery has revolutionized the approach to MALS, emphasizing its precision and faster recovery for patients. This condition, though rare, can be difficult to diagnose and treat, and Dr. Rai’s insights were invaluable for attendees.

Panel Discussions

Updates in the Management of Acute Abdomen
A panel discussion moderated by Dr. Pranil Rai, with panelists Dr. Romeo Kansakar and Dr. Rajiv Mishra, provided a deep dive into the acute abdomen — a common but often challenging clinical scenario. The panelists discussed the latest diagnostic and treatment strategies, emphasizing the importance of timely intervention to prevent complications.

Secondary Survey in Trauma Patients
Dr. Nitish Koirala chaired a session on trauma management, specifically focusing on the secondary survey in trauma patients. This vital step in trauma care involves a thorough reassessment of the patient after initial treatment to identify any overlooked injuries. Dr. Koirala’s input ensured the session was both informative and highly interactive.

Conclusion
UPMASICON 2025 was a grand success with fruitful academic output. It also strengthened the collaboration between Indian and Nepalese surgeons.
